With all the changes with how we receive healthcare, Maureen Healy, is ahead of the curve. As the founder of Virtual Healing, a company dedicated to the health and well-being of people everywhere, Maureen has made it her mission to raise awareness about patient advocacy.

With a background in healthcare spanning over three decades, Maureen discovered her love of medicine while still in her teens.

He father was a physician and her mother was a registered nurse. The only girl in a family of seven children, Maureen chose learning from her father about the basics of medicine rather than cook for her family.

This led her on a lifetime passion, and a career, as a registered nurse and then a nurse practitioner.

Maureen got her master’s degree, securing her position as a nurse practitioner. She wanted more autonomy and control in how she practiced medicine.

Her desire to write a book about how to have a better hospital stay began well over 15 years ago. But as happens to many authors, life took front seat to her writing. All that changed when her mother had a serious car accident.

She quickly realized how important it is for loved ones to be the eyes and ears for a patient.

Your Guide to a Safe and Swift Hospital Stay chronicles her mother’s journey and how Maureen addressed the many issues that arose.

Available on Amazon, the book’s description clearly identifies what many people experience when tragedy strikes. https://amzn.to/2Wbko59

“The phone rings. Someone you love has been hospitalized. Your stress level quadruples. You want to be clear on what you can do, and not succumb to being helpless during the turmoil nor in the days that may follow. When you turn to the internet to learn about their condition, treatments, and therapies, you also read about negative complications caused by healthcare errors- and you affirm, “I can’t let such an outcome happen to my loved one.” Your mind wanders. What should you do?

“Maureen Healy, a skilled and compassionate nurse practitioner with 25 years of hospital nursing experience, has published Your Guide to a Safe and Swift Hospital Stay. This powerful new book provides families and caregivers with concrete and specific instructions on how YOU can contribute effectively as an essential part of the healthcare team.

“The author provides the specific answers you need- when that need suddenly confronts you. Research shows when families, friends, or caregivers, participate in the patient’s care, the number of healthcare errors are reduced, and patient outcomes are improved. Your Guide to a Safe and Swift Hospital Stay uses a PAINFREE acronym as a reference to help families and caregivers learn in an easy-to-follow approach to encourage recovery and stay alert to subtle changes that may indicate a complication or start of a relapse. It helps the reader to think about all the different aspects necessary to promote recuperation while preventing mishaps during hospitalization or a rehabilitative facility. You can become an essential part of the Team that allows your loved one a safe and swift hospital stay.”
