From Curiosity to Commitment

Victoria Moran’s path began in childhood, when she first heard the word “vegetarian.” By 1969 she was meat free, and in 1983 she fully embraced vegan living. Along the way she released 14 books on well-being, appeared twice on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and lost 60 pounds that she has kept off for more than four decades by centering whole food, plant-based meals. Today, Moran is one of the most recognized voices in the movement, known for making compassionate living practical, joyful, and sustainable.

Main Street Vegan: Book, Podcast, and Academy

Everything clicked in 2012 with the release of Main Street Vegan. That title became a brand and a roadmap. The Main Street Vegan Podcast has run continuously for 13 years and features story-driven conversations that support vegans and veg-curious listeners alike. That same year, Moran launched Main Street Vegan Academy, an in-depth program that has trained and certified vegan lifestyle coaches. Graduates have gone on to launch nonprofits, open plant-based businesses, host podcasts, and work with leading animal advocacy groups. The Academy’s faculty includes noted names such as Chef Fran Costigan, Dr. Milton Mills, Chef AJ, and guest presenters like Dr. Michael Greger and attorney-activist Wayne Hsiung.

Age Like a Yogi: A Fresh Take on the Third Act

Moran’s newest book, Age Like a Yogi, blends yoga philosophy with Ayurveda to reframe aging as a time to build radiance, resilience, and peace. She explains that Ayurveda’s daily rhythms and digestion-supporting practices can fuel energy, sleep, and mood. Her reader-favorite chapter explores “Ojas,” an Ayurvedic concept of vital essence that shows up as glow, steadiness, and joy. Practical steps include eating the largest meal at midday, finishing dinner a few hours before bed, and favoring warm, soothing foods that balance Vata as we move past 60.

Yoga Beyond the Mat

Moran reminds readers that yoga is more than poses. The tradition includes ethics, breath, meditation, and lifestyle choices aligned with Ahimsa, or nonviolence. That value naturally connects to vegan living. Her own teachers and mentors modeled a kind, consistent approach that helped her grow into the identity she holds today. The message is clear. You do not need acrobatics to benefit from yoga. You need intention, gentle practices, and a commitment to live in harmony with life.

Whole Food, Plant-Based Meets Ethical Vegan

Moran sees no conflict between health-first and ethics-first perspectives. Her guidance is to keep both. Choose compassionate foods that also support long-term wellness. She recognizes the rise of highly processed vegan products and encourages using them as occasional bridges rather than daily staples. The goal is a pattern built on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds that sustains energy and aligns with values.

A Movement of Peacemakers

In a world filled with noise, Moran advocates steady, humane leadership. Calm presence helps animals and people more than anxious urgency. She invites each of us to be the vegan someone remembers for kindness, not contention. Small ripples create change. That might be sharing a meal, modeling nonjudgment, or simply requesting milk that does not come from a cow.
