Where’s Your Energy?
Low energy? High energy?
Without a doubt, your level of energy makes a huge difference in how much you’re able to accomplish on any given day.
Energy is absolutely essential in order to fully live your passion. This has definitely been my experience.
When I have lots of energy, I’m able to do more of what I love doing. Whether it be running in a 5k, 10k or half marathon, sharing quality time with my sweetie, running my business, meeting with clients, walking the dogs, working on a project, working in the garden, kayaking, hiking or swimming in the summer, hanging out with friends, or cleaning my house, it all takes energy.
The more energy I have, the more I do what I love. Makes for a great life.
What about you? Do you have the energy to do what you love? Or do you find yourself feeling sluggish at various points in the day thus preventing you from enjoying all you are here to enjoy.
Daily Goals
One of my primary goals each and every day is to have as much energy as I possibly can. What’s interesting is I know I have a lot of control over how much energy I do have. As do you.
The sad thing is that far too many people don’t take responsibility for the choices they make and then blame outside forces for why they are not feeling their best.
Some of the most common beliefs people have that hold them back are:
- As I age there is a lot I can’t do
- I don’t have the time to exercise or eat right
- It costs too much to eat healthy
The facts are this, if you keep active, you exercise on a regular basis and you eat healthy there’s an awful lot you can do. Besides, the more you take care of yourself, the less likely it is that you will be challenged with colds, the flu and low energy.
So much of your energy has to do with your mindset and choices. Granted, there are always exceptions to the rule, but as a general rule there’s a lot more we are capable of than we may give ourselves credit for.
I know for me, when I eat healthy, I have more than enough energy to do the things I want to do. But when I eat poorly, I immediately slow down and simply don’t have the desire to do much of anything.
The Truth WILL Set You Free
Recently, I had more than enough evidence of how true this is. For some reason, I let my healthy eating habits slip by eating a bunch of sugar, cheese and lots of pasta. Oh my. It didn’t take long for me to slow wayyyyyyy down and get the flu. The experience convinced me that poor food choices are not for me.
A few days ago I made a decision that enough is enough. I’m glad to say I’m back on track with the best choices… for me.
Do you want more energy? There are long term solutions to increasing energy as there are short term.
Some of the areas to focus on are:
- Food choices
- Water consumption
- Sleep
- Exercise
- Meditation
- Fresh air
In future posts, I will cover the specifics of each that work for me. Today, I want to share a couple of really great energy drinks that are tasty, natural and easy to prepare.
“Hot” Lemonade
- 1 Med – Lg Lemon
- 1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 8 – 12 oz clean water
The name is due to the cayenne pepper, not the temperature.
Peel the lemon. Put all ingredients in a blender or Bullet. Blend for about one minute. Sip.
Both lemons and cayenne pepper have great health benefits. They are really good for detoxification.
Lemons are packed with antioxidants and electrolytes. Drinking a cup or two before exercise will give you lots of energy. For those of us who enjoy running, this is perfect before a race.
According to a post on BodyUnburdened.com, “Cayenne pepper stimulates the circulatory system by opening the capillaries, aids digestion, and helps regulate blood sugar. Furthermore, and very importantly, it increases the temperature of your body and kick-starts your metabolism.”
Morning Sunshine
I love a bit of Morning Sunshine to start my day. This drink is packed full of Vitamin C and tastes GREAT.
Peel tangerines, lemon and orange. Wash and slice apple.
Juice in juicer. I use a Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed 900-Watt Juicer and love it.
If you don’t have a juicer you can blend in a blender or Bullet.
Drink immediately.
Guaranteed, Morning Sunshine will start your day with lots of instant energy.
Conclusion
How you live your life is based on the level of energy you have. How much energy you have is quite likely determined by the choices you make.
What choices are you making to have lots of great energy to live a life of fun, joy and passion? Feel free to share what you do in the comments box.
