As I sit with my thoughts and feelings around what happened in Portland last Friday, I am left to ponder what it means to be alive in this day and age. Does it mean we continue to tweet, post and go into “shock and awe” over world affairs doing nothing to bring about change? Or does it mean we live as the best people we can be so if the need to ever respond at the deepest level arises, we would never have a question as to what to do in our mind, heart and soul?

This article is spot on and in alignment with my views. Click here.

With the recent tragedy in Manchester, one is left to wonder if there is a new level of evil in the world.

On any given day, the news is filled with tragedy after tragedy. It’s a sad state of affairs.

Pondering What the Truth Is

We have watched as a culture of hate throughout the world has escalated. One is left to ponder if things are truly worse off than in the past or if it is because of social media it only seems like it is worse. I contend, it is worse, much worse than days gone by. And yet, on the flip side, there is more good being done than in the past.

Now, more than ever, we have the opportunity to overshadow evil with good. But, each of us must take responsibility for the change that must occur.

For today, may the trivial things we place so much unwarranted importance on, be put aside for the truly important things like caring for our neighbors, kindness to a stranger, standing up for what we know is right, being the leaders we are called to be in light of very little leadership from those we call leaders, and living today with so much meaning, regardless of the tasks at hand, that each day we live in complete resolve of who we believe ourselves to be.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Most of us have heard, “Actions speak louder than words.” Are your actions those of integrity, doing all you can to live by a code of ethics that you are proud of? Are your actions ones of caring and kindness? Are your actions those that help others to fear you or respect you? Are your actions ones of inclusion or separation?

There is much in today’s world that simply cannot be explained. The simplest way to deal with the unexplainable, is to live in a way that good overcomes evil at the core of our soul.

For today, may you find it in your heart to do just a bit more good than you would normally do. For today, may you choose to use social media as a powerhouse tool for sharing insights into a better way of living. For today, may you be the instrument of change for a better tomorrow.
