That’s right. I am lying on my living room couch, right leg elevated in a cast while making money. This is amazing.
First, let me tell you what happened. I had two back-to-back strange (and painful) days this past weekend. As many of my readers know I am training for the Portland Marathon that takes place on October 4th.
My training consists of power walks, jogging, bicycling, core training and some weight training.
Friday evening I headed out to Alton Baker Park in Eugene with Karen excited to begin our 10 mile ride. At about the 5 mile mark a man who appeared to be high on drugs barreled down a hill on his bicycle at an unbelievable speed. Before I had a chance to get out of his way he broadsided me forcing me and my bike to the ground.
After the initial shock I evaluated my injuries (a road rash on my left shin, bruise on my hip, a bump on my head and a somewhat bruised ego). I realized I was okay. I then inspected my bike and quickly realized the impact rendered it unsafe to ride. We proceeded to walk our bikes back to the truck.
Not sure if I would be in any condition to train on Saturday, I went to bed knowing by morning I would make my decision. Feeling amazingly pain free when I woke I proceeded to head out to meet my coach and mentor for my 8 mile training.
Jackie (my mentor) and I were having a great time alternating between power walking and jogging. I knew I was hitting a personal best and felt on top of the world.
In an instant it all changed. At mile 7 ½ my foot hit a pothole and as I crashed to the ground. I was pretty sure I broke my ankle. Not only did I hear it, I sure felt it.
Jackie immediately summoned help and did what she could to stave off the shock I was beginning to experience. I was taken to Urgent Care in excruciating pain. My suspicions were put to rest with the words, “You have a break across the entire bone.”
Wow! Did reality set in at that moment realizing I had a minimum of 6 – 8 weeks of wearing a cast and then needing a slow re-entry into my training. The marathon was a fast fading dream as I felt tears well up in my eyes.
As quickly as the disappointment and tears rose to the surface they disappeared. Many years ago I heard something that has helped me through a number of difficult situations. “And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation — some fact of my life — unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God’s world by mistake.”
I am a believer in Law of Attraction; things happening for a reason and Divine Intervention.
I think all of these are at play here. I don’t quite know why I would have attracted this, but a thought that came to me is with two back to back incidents maybe I am being protected from something worse happening.
And….maybe not. Time will tell.
I do know that my choice in any situation is to resist or accept. With all the care I received from both incidences, I am incredibly clear on how blessed I am to have the friends and family I do.
Another reason I feel incredibly blessed is in spite of my foot being in a cast I continue to make money with the Internet and information products.
As a matter of fact, as I wrote the previous sentence another sale was made. Gotta love it!
Throughout the weekend I have been emailing back and forth with some of my colleagues who also make their living from the Internet and information products. (Thank goodness for laptops)
All agree it is very comforting to know that even if they have an accident, an illness or simply the desire to take some time off, they can do it.
Would you like to be among those who can do this? Here’s the deal, before you can make a sustainable income you have to make your first $100. This is a truth many people ignore choosing rather to believe the hype from those promising you can make thousands upon
thousands with no effort. Sadly, many of those selling “money making solutions” don’t even make a living at what they claim they can teach you.
My philosophy is when you want to learn how to do something study with those who have done it and succeeded at it. Study by way of the information they provide, mentoring, consulting or training. Simple research will give you a good idea who is the real deal and who walks their talk.
For some people hiring a mentor may not be within your budget. Yet, you want credible information. So what’s the solution.
Here’s one; I wrote the report, Discover how to make your first $100 online with my easy to use system for Creating Money Making Reports!

If you got the report you are automatically registered for Tuesday’s call. You made a great choice.
Although I will be limited in my physical activity for the next couple months, I am not limited in my ability to continue to run my business.
And although I won’t be able to fulfill my goal of being in the marathon in October, it sure doesn’t mean it won’t happen in spring or Fall 2010.
I am a firm believer that just because something doesn’t happen in my timeframe it won’t happen. It simply means adjustments must be made.
Success lies in the hands of those who do something rather than simply talking about doing something.
I would love to have comments from others on this post.
In success, abundance and health,
Kathleen
Bless your heart girl! OUCH! I’m sorry about you having to miss your marathon, but I agree, I believe God was protecting you from something else or perhaps directing you to use this experience for something good!
I love your attitude. Enjoy making money via the couch. 😉
To your quick recovery,

Hi Kathleen,
I totally agree with you that there’s always a reason as to why things happen and it’s possible that you’re being protected from something much worse happening. You have a great outlook. Keep that money flowing. Here’s to a speedy recovery!

Kathleen, sorry to hear about your broken ankle and I wish you a speedy recovery. I know how excited you were about training for the marathon and if it is meant to be, you will be back in that race sooner than you can blink your eye 😉 I’m cheering you on from the side lines!
AND, if it is any consolation to you, after talking to you an NAMS, you encouraged me to take up running as a way to release some of my stresses in my business life and to put something healthiness back into my life. I was never a long distance runner even in high school as it always seemed like too much work at the time when I could easily come in first place as a 100 meter sprinter. For me, it was always a short, quick race to the winning finish line so I never had an interest in the long distance races.
BUT, after listening to you talk about the marathon you were training for and hearing the passion and excitement in your voice about your steps to reach that goal, it inspired me to think more about my past victories and wins in my life and you helped me realize something from within:
The victory of the race isn’t necessarily to be the first person to cross the finish line, sometimes its simply enjoying the long journey towards the finish line. Thanks for opening my eyes to this 😉
You, your vision and goal are still in tact. Only your timeline has changed. I have no doubt you will make the most of this experience.
Live Your Dreams,
Jill Koenig
Kathleen,
Your attitude is amazing and inspirational! Those accidents would knock many people down, but not you. Great show. Its wonderful to know people like you who can take, even celebrate, what life has to offer.
You might know about the Sedona Method, a method for “letting go”. If not, you are right there.
Bless you my friend.

Hi Kathleen…
As you say – you may never know the why. I certainly have had experiences that the why never showed itself… Well at least so far.
I do as you say – I accept what is going on – What Is – Is — Now let me find the opportunity in this. Whenever I turn my attention to the opportunities – I always find them!!
I see you are absolutely finding your opportunities in this! You have such a great attitude – I am sure you will find many, many more!
Enjoy this special opportunity time – Soon you will be back up on both feet!
Hugs,
Ellie

Hi Kathleen . I have just broke my ankle and believe that it was the law of attraction through feeling overwelmed. I have accepted it was meant to be. I was wondering if there was a way of making money whilst sitting on my behind for the next 8 weeks even if for a few hours a day. I live in North Cyprus but could work for the uk market or world market. Any tips would be good.
There are many ways to make money while sitting on your backside healing from the broken ankle.
1. Write articles for experts
2. Affiliate marketing
3. Create a low priced product for a market such as a $10 report
4. Do research for those who are too busy to do it themselves but are willing to pay to have the research done
There are many, many ways but it depends on your skill set and who you know who may be willing to pay for your services.
