As we near the end of the 30 Day Turnaround Challenge, have you considered what you will do next? Obviously, when you started, you had a specific outcome in mind. You had something you really wanted to accomplish. Did you do it? Did you stick with it? If yes, way to go.
If not, what would it take for you to keep your word to yourself? A tough question, but one that deserves an answer.
Regardless of what you committed to for the 30 day period, there was something you wanted to do on a daily basis designed to give you a better quality of life.
My Goal
For me, it was writing 30 minutes a day on my memoir. Did I do it? Yes and no.
I found myself being so focused on my writing that I actually accomplished more than anticipated. So much in fact, I surprised my editor and book coach.
The process I am using for my writing is such that my editor sends me blocks of content from the first draft. I work on that block, send it to her when complete. In return, she sends me the next block.
All was humming along fine until my writing got so focused that I was getting more done in less time. There was one period where for a few days, I had nothing to work on. Rather than bag the commitment, I used the time to research, study and digest anything I could get my hands on around finding an agent. Wow! That opened up a whole new world to me.
The point being, I could have ignored my daily commitment due to not having copy to work on or… I could find some other aspect of the memoir project to work on.
The Quality of Life is the Quality of Our Word
The quality of our life is based on the quality of our word. We can make promise after promise, but if we keep breaking our promise, we set ourselves up for doubt, frustration and defeat.
Isn’t life far to short to live in the space of doubt, frustration and defeat? I believe it is. And yet, most people reside in these places.
What will you do to up the ante? What will you do to assure that when you say you will do something, you do it?
