Over the years, I’ve been a featured expert on hundreds of podcast shows. Truth be told, podcasts are, by far, one of the best ways to reach lots of people FAST!
Appearances allow for visibility, increased market reach, message positioning and more visits to one’s blog and website.
But it takes more than simply being on the show. It’s what happens after the show that makes a huge difference.
For example, I was recently interviewed by Tim Patterson, The Trade Show Guy.

After the show, I posted the link on my Facebook group, LinkedIn and Twitter. I also mentioned the interview in this post. This allows the interview to be heard not only by Tim’s followers, but my community too.
Visibility Rocks
Podcast interviews are one of the best ways to gain visibility in a niche market. However, to get the most out of your efforts, it’s important to plan out the process.
- Pre-show
- During the show
- Post-show
Keep the following in mind when looking for shows to appear on…
- Using a targeted approach works much better than throwing mud on the wall and hoping something sticks.
- Be very clear on what you bring to the show. It’s not about how wonderful you are, but rather how much the listeners will benefit.
- Be prepared when you approach the host. Should the host ask for marketing material, you should be prepared to send out as soon as possible.
- The more shows you appear on the more shows you appear on.
Not sure how to go about finding opportunities, knowing how to prepare for a show, or what to do following your appearance?
