I am thrilled to bring you an interview I did with Jill Lublin, author, speaker and coach. Today we are talking about her newest book, Get Noticed…Get Referrals:Build Your Client Base and Your Business by Making a Name for Yourself as well as many of her other successes. Ms. Lublin is a recognized as a leader in her field.
1. Tell us about yourself – where you are from, how you got started writing, what you do when you are not writing (or anything you want our readers to know)
My new book Get Noticed…Get Referrals:  Build Your Client Base and Your Business by Making a Name for Yourself was just published by McGraw-Hill.  I am also the coauthor of the national bestselling books, Networking Magic which rose to #1 on the Barnes and Noble charts for three weeks, and Guerrilla Publicity, the PR bible, which also reached bestseller status.
In addition to writing books, I am the founder of GoodNews Media, Inc. and host the TV program, Messages of Hope, and the nationally syndicated radio show, Do the Dream. I also created two audio programs, three DVD training videos, and a workbook.

I speak internationally and am the CEO of the strategic consulting firm, Promising Promotion, where I train companies in innovative techniques to improve bottom line results. In the past twenty years, I have worked with ABC, NBC, CBS, and other national media, and know what the media wants. I have been featured in The New York Times, Women’s Day, Fortune Small Business, Inc, and Entrepreneur Magazine, and on ABC and NBC radio and TV national affiliates.

2. What inspired you to write your first book?
My first book was Guerrilla Publicity which I wrote with Jay Conrad Levinson and Rick Frishman.  I wanted to write this book because I had been helping people for over 10 years get their word out by sending very little money.  People think it costs a lot of money to get publicity, but it really doesn’t.  You just have to be innovative and persistant.
3. How many books have you written? Three
4. How do you decide on their topic?
I focus on my expertise and the changes of the industry.  For example, my next book will be Guerrilla Publicity 2 and include a lot of information on podcasts, blogs, social media, etc because when I wrote the first version of Guerrilla Publicity, a lot of those new methods of publicity were not invented and mainstream yet.
5. What works best to keep you focused and on track?
I really try to find a balance between work, play, and giving back to the community.  That is important to help everyone stay focused and on track with their goals.
6. Do you write to make money or for the love of writing?
I love being able to provide the world with information that will help them.  So many people have dreams of getting themselves or their businesses noticed, but don’t know how – I am happy to provide the information they need to make their dreams come true
7. What are some traditional methods of marketing you have used to gain visibility for you and your book(s)?
I do it all – traditional pr (print, tv, radio). We are doing a blog tour, I am being interviewed for online media, doing virtual chats about the book, etc.
8. What are some unique methods?
Things like this blog tour are new to me, but so much fun and effective in getting the word out.
