In the world of online marketing, social media and getting the word out about our products and services there are countless ways to optimize our efforts. Yet, many people do one or two things and wonder why they are not getting the best results.
Take blog postings. When you post something to your blog don’t rest on your laurels and finish your efforts there. You can maximize your efforts by letting your opt in subscribers know about the post (as long as it’s relevant to them), post the permalink on your FaceBook wall, post a note on FaceBook, tweet about it, and let your LinkedIn group members know about the post.
Getting the most out of your efforts mean you have to put effort into your efforts. What else would you do with the video above if it were yours? Comments welcome.
Thanks, Kathleen. I funnel my blog posts to linkedin, but never thought to post it directly as status or to groups. You consistently deliver great content, and this is no exception.
Thanks for your feedback Marla.
Hi Kathleen,
So happy your video concentrated on utilizing “LinkedIn” as a way to promote your blog postings.
Lots of bloggers I cross paths with tend to discount LinkedIn as a visibility tool. Too bad! Just sharing my postings with the LinkedIn groups I belong to has proven to be effective, time and time again. I’m very pleased with the responses and interaction I experience.
To answer “What else would you do with the video above if it were yours?”:
1) Ping it out to all my networks, simultaneously, via my ping (dot) fm account (Tumblr, Posterous, Twitter, Facebook, Google Buzz, Friend Feed, etc.)
2) Make sure it reaches my subscribers via an automated Blog Broadcast through my contact management system.
3) Upload it to You Tube and other video-sharing sites via Tube Mogul (dot) com.
4) Encourage some of my closest online friends and colleagues to share it with their fans/followers/subscribers (Ask them to Re-Tweet, post it on their blog, Stumble it, share it with their LinkedIn groups, etc.)
5) Post it on my Facebook fan/biz page.
Now here’s what I’m going to do as soon as I exit this comment box …
I’m going to click the icon that allows me to view your video on You Tube. Once I get over there, I’ll click the “Share and “Like” buttons under your video and, automagically, share it with my followers. 🙂
Melanie
Thanks for sharing your ideas Melanie. Great insights to enhance the post. You’re the best.
Kathleen, I have my posts automatically sent to my LinkedIn status update via my Feedblitz account. I also use the LInkedIn icons on my own and other’s posts to save a few steps. If you click on the LI share button at the bottom of your post, you’ll get straight to the spot you showed in your video and you can add to your status update and groups all in the same place. Saves a few clicks.
You’re right on that you have to promote your blog posts as much as you would promote anything else. Get your great content published on as many outposts as you have…blog on!
Great tips Denise. If we have a number of types of groups one post may be appropriate for some groups but not for others. I belong to a Boxer Dog group and we only post information about our dogs.
Great info, Kathleen. I have my blog feed on my LinkedIn site, but your strategy is definitely more proactive and higher visibility. Thank you!
You and Denise and others make terrific cases for the importance of re-purposing and syndicating. Sometime, perhaps you could address the potential for oversaturation. I know I get annoyed if I get the same message too many times.
