If you want a change of focus, change one word. Truth be told, a simple change of one word can mean the difference in the way you perceive your journey for the 30 Day Turnaround Challenge.
Change the word “have” to “get” and see what happens.
Try it… “I have to” (fill in the blank) to “I get to (fill in the blank).
“I have to exercise” is very different than “I get to exercise.”
“I have to eat healthy” is very different than “I get to eat healthy.”
“I have to write in my journal” is very different than “I get to write in my journal.”
“I have to make 10 phone calls to potential clients” is very different than “I get to make 10 phone calls to potential clients.”
Simply changing one word in our vocabulary can change the outcome of the experience.
“I have to exercise!”
“I have to stop eating processed sugar.”
“I have to give up dairy.”
These are the lies we tell ourselves that keeps us stuck, miserable and not living up to our full potential.
The truth is, “We get to … ”
Sure, we can try to convince ourselves we have to do a lot of things that we actually get to do. There’s so much we don’t have to do. Yes, there are consequences for not doing these things, but we don’t HAVE to. We get to.
Turn your “I have to …” into “I get to …” and watch what happens.
Just for today, with things you know would be best for you, rather than say, “I have to” change it up.
“I get to exercise! Whooo hoooo!”
“I get to stop eating sugar. That means I won’t have the sugar crashes or sugar blues. I will have more energy.”
“I get to be dairy free. No more nausea, stomach cramps, or bloating.”
You can apply this simple strategy to any area of your life.
“I have to go to work” when changed to “I get to go to work” changes how you perform.
“I have to clean the kitchen” changed to “I get to clean the kitchen” changes how much you enjoy vs tolerate the process.
Just for today, try changing how you express what you do. No matter what it is, change the “I have to” to I get to” and watch what happens.
Using this strategy for the remainder of the 30 Day Turnaround Challenge can be one tiny change that makes a huge difference.
