The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Welcome to the first day of the New Year. This is when lots of people set goals for the coming year. This is also the day that many of the goals go by the wayside.

Whether it’s to give up sugar, lose 20 pounds, quit smoking, stop drinking, or start an exercise regime, the goals are set with the best of intentions.

Intention Alone Will Not Work

Unfortunately, intention alone does not achieve an outcome. Add to intention actions, commitment and consistency to realize your dreams.

Average gives up. Average settles for the status quo. Average blames outside forces for why their life is not where they want it to be.

Does setting and sticking with a goal guarantee you will accomplish your outcome? No! Absolutely not.

But not setting goals and not sticking with your goals does guarantee a life riddled with questions. Questions like, “What could I have accomplished if only I would have taken consistent action? What would I have discovered about myself that I will never know?”

Write Them Down

Writing your goals down gives you the edge on accomplishing them.

According to a study done by Gail Matthews at Dominican University, those who wrote down their goals accomplished significantly more than those who did not write down their goals. Who doesn’t want to accomplish significantly more?

Today is a great day to set the tone for the coming year… one day at a time.

Regardless of what your goals are, it’s important to make it doable and yet, make it a stretch.

The best way to start is by setting your primary goal. Then break your goal down into smaller pieces.

30 days is a doable period of time. This is why I started the 30 Day Challenge.

Write down what you hope to accomplish over the next 30 days. It also helps to know why you are setting this particular goal. Additionally, what are the benefits to achieving your outcome.

Answer Me This

Here are a few questions designed to help you achieve your goals.

1. What is the outcome you want to achieve in 30 days?
2. Why is this important?
3. What will achieving this do for you?
4. What will NOT achieving this do?

The more detail you can give, the better.

You may want to get a journal to log your answers. The more effort you put into achieving your outcome, the more likely it is you will accomplish it.

My goal for the next 30 days is to juice a minimum of two of my meals a day for the full 30 days.

In answering the questions, here’s what my responses are:

1. What is the outcome you want to achieve in 30 days?

Juice a minimum of two of my meals a day for the full 30 days.

2. Why is this important?

I know how powerful juicing is for the mind, body and soul. I want to jump-start the year in order to continually improve my health. Juicing puts massive amounts of nutrients in my system. Nutrients that give me a greater chance at sustaining a healthy weight, having more energy, enjoying optimal health and feeling totally vibrant.

It has been proven that what we put into our body either supports our health or works against it. Many diseases people are diagnosed with are a direct result of what they put in their body.

I choose to give myself the best chance possible. To do this, I need the right equipment. I use the Breville juicer.

3. What will achieving this do for you?

It will make me feel better, look better, function better. Juicing gives me a clearer focus and perspective. I tend to think clearer and have sharper response time.

4. What will NOT achieving this do?

By not achieving this simple goal, I am basically giving up control on my health. The more whole foods I eat, the better it is for my health. By not achieving my goal I am basically saying my health is not that important.
