Today marks the transition from preparation to action—sending your first five podcast pitches is where the real magic happens.
Consistency in outreach is key to success. Imagine reaching out to one host per day for 90 days. The potential results could be transformative for your visibility and influence.
That said, it’s crucial to be strategic in your approach. As discussed in previous posts, your pitches need to be targeted and should immediately highlight why you’re an ideal fit for the podcast’s audience.
Avoid A Pitch That is Identical to Others
When crafting your pitch, if you’re using AI to help create your messaging, it’s crucial to rework and personalize it. AI-generated pitches
often come across as generic and nearly identical to others.
Recently, I received at least half a dozen pitches that were strikingly similar. Out of curiosity, I tested a request in ChatGPT to create a podcast pitch, and sure enough, the result was almost identical to those I’d received. This highlights a common issue: people are shortcutting the process, leaving out essential details, and relying on a cookie-cutter approach.
What stood out about these pitches was the lack of a crucial detail that immediately determines whether I’ll consider someone as a guest. If the person pitching had taken the time to read the show description on any major podcast platform, they would have realized that mentioning the expert is vegan is a non-negotiable for my decision. Instead, it was clear they hadn’t researched the show but had relied on ChatGPT to generate a generic pitch letter.

To stand out, take the time to tailor your pitch, add unique insights, and ensure it reflects your genuine fit for the show. Originality and effort go a long way in capturing a host’s attention.
With this foundation in mind, let’s take the next step toward securing impactful podcast appearances.
1. Review Your List
Go through your list of the top five podcasts you created. Double-check that the shows align with your expertise and message as well as what the show is about and the host is looking for in their guests. Confirm they’re the right fit for your goals.
2. Personalize Each Pitch
Craft your email for each podcast:
- Use the host’s name.
- Mention a specific detail about their show (a recent episode, format, or theme).
- Tie your expertise directly to their audience’s interests.
3. Highlight Your Value
In your pitch:
- Clearly explain why you’re a great fit.
- Showcase what you’ll bring to their audience (key insights, unique perspective, actionable tips).
- Keep it brief, engaging, and focused on their needs.
4. Attach Key Assets
Include everything they need to say yes:
- A short bio.
- Suggested topics or questions.
- Links to relevant information but don’t overwhelm.
5. Proofread and Polish
Before hitting send, check for:
- Spelling and grammar errors.
- Accurate details (names, podcast titles, etc.).
- A professional yet personable tone.
6. Send with Confidence
Hit send! Trust the work you’ve done and know that every pitch brings you closer to results.
7. Track Your Efforts
Keep a record of which pitches you’ve sent and follow up in 7–10 days if you don’t hear back. Consistency is key!
Today is the day to take the first step toward securing the podcast opportunities that will elevate your visibility. Follow these steps, and let the momentum begin.
What’s Next?
On Day 17 I’ll cover whether or not you should pay to be a guest on a show. The short answer is this; in most cases you should NOT have to pay. There are exceptions but for the most part, the answer is no.
