If you’ve been in business for any length of time, there’s a strong possibility you’ve experienced the power of trusting your gut when making decisions.
On the flip side, you’ve probably had the experience where you had a strong feeling to do something, ignored the feeling and as a result, had a very important, and likely costly, lesson to learn.
As entrepreneurs, it’s essential to develop our ability to trust our gut. Call it intuition, sixth sense, gut feeling or a hunch. When we develop our ability to cultivate our inner knowing we are able to more clearly know which projects to work on, products to develop, books to write, potential clients to call and other actions that can prove to be very productive, enjoyable and profitable.
Amazingly, the more we tune into our inner knowing, the more we know how valuable our inner knowing is.
There are simple steps we can take to develop our ability to tap into our inner knowing.
Three of my favorites are journaling, meditation and time in nature.

Journaling

Although journaling can be done any time of the day, it can be very effective to journal first thing in the morning.
According to many personal development experts, journaling in the morning puts you in a more receptive state of mind to the inner knowing. Something as simple as keeping a daily gratitude journal can reap incredible benefits.

Meditation

Taking quiet time for meditation is a powerhouse way to tap into your intuition. Meditation is a simple way to train the mind, similar to the way that fitness is an approach to training the body.
One of the easiest ways to begin meditating is to simply focus on your breath. It’s amazing what can happen by taking five to ten minutes each morning of quiet time that consists of journaling and meditation.

Time in Nature

A great way to develop your intuition is to spend time in nature. This allows you time to clear your mind and get away from the chaos of day-to-day overwhelm. To achieve the greatest benefit from your time in nature, turn off your phone, be silent and simply “be.”
When you can step away from the hustle and bustle of all that is demanding your time and attention, you will find it a very helpful exercise in developing your intuition.
